Academic dementia alert. Academic dementia alert.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Despite her efforts to portray herself as an average, small-town, “folksy” American, Sarah Palin’s political views – ardently pro-gun, pro-censorship, antichoice and antigay – make John McCain’s conservative credentials pale in comparison. What few observers have said, however, is these beliefs are not just extreme – they are radical, and even bear a comparison with some of the most notorious “rural radicals” of our time.

The rest is here. If anyone cares.  Thanks to Michelle.

I was hoping for a good anti-Palin article (I admit to being skeptical of the wisdom of having her being a heartbeat away, literally, from being President). However, this article was essentially a pathetic guilt by association argument.

Consider what having a Congress, White House and judiciary full of professional politicians for at least 200 years has done for the U.S. One term of an amateur – in this case one who literally loves her country, no matter how “unqualified” she may be – might be a pleasant change for us. She might give some thought to what her Constitutional responsiblities are when she acts. Well, perhaps that’s a bit of a stretch, I admit. heh
